What is the Early Learning Council of the Rockford Area?
The Early Learning Council of the Rockford Area is a collaborative body that provides leadership in developing a vision for comprehensive early learning services for young children, ages birth to five, that support parents as their children's first teachers.The Council is comprised of parents, educators and early childhood leaders, business and civic leaders, the media, the faith community and public policy makers, and it covers the area served by the Rockford Public Schools (District 205).

Mission Statement
The Mission of the Early Learning Council of the Rockford Area is to support quality

early learning opportunities for all young children and their parents through the

collaboration of educators, service providers and community members.


• To inform leaders from all sectors of the community of the importance of early learning
• To make recommendations that will build upon the strengths of existing programs
• To improve and expand quality early learning opportunities
• To identify the barriers that prevent or limit access to quality care and early learning opportunities
